Board 8 > Fighting game types- how's the 2013 Killer Instinct on Steam?

I pretty much suck at fighting games, but have been getting into some of the recent story-heavy games like the BlazBlue series, Injustice and Mortal Kombat reboot.

The new KI looks pretty good, and is currently cheap on Steam for the complete bundle. It says it's got a proper story, but I'd like a less biased opinion-

1) Does it actually have a decent story mode (the actual quality of the story is less important, as long as it's told well)
2) Does it have a decent amount of single-player content for someone who will never play against another human being?
3) Can you have fun muddling through said solo content without being actually good at it? As in, I can beat the standard AI, but still don't really understand any in-depth mechanics (which is where I am in the games listed at the start).
