and the lady asked me to update my address because I moved. Right before I hung up, I realised the difference in taxes between the two provinces is 7.5%, so I asked her to change my address back and she goes "We're not trying to end the world, we're just trying to save you a couple dollars." I ended up getting two extra gigs of data (five total) for fifteen dollars less than what I was paying. I have free worldwide texting, Canada-wide calling and a two-dollar add-on that makes calling places like the US, the UK and Japan 0.10 cents instead of 0.25 per minute, for $72/m.

I'm in Canada, so there's that. I was paying almost $90. And I'm not sure what that person gets for $30. Here that might get you local calling and free text, but that's it. No data or anything. Maybe three voicemails.

I forget the whole thing, all I recall was them asking why I don't have one, me saying they're stupid expensive, and their claim a phone could be had for that price. I know it's baloney though.

That's with no contract, too. I bought my phone for $400 almost two years ago.

Different carriers with different plans, Captain Obvious.

The TC says he is on the 5 GB plan, but he doesn't say what carrier he uses. Some carriers are more expensive than others.

I personally use the Cricket 2 GB plan, and it is indeed only $30 per month. The Cricket 5 GB plan is $40 per month though, but 2 GB is plenty for my needs. Cricket also uses the AT&T tower network, so coverage is good. The catch as to why Cricket is cheaper is because your download speed is limited to 8 Mbps. Honestly though, unless you are downloading large files, 8 Mbps is plenty fast enough. Why would you be downloading large files on a phone anyway? Large downloads typically happen on a PC, not a phone.

Meh. My folks got their first for the holidays. Not sure what they're paying. Hopefully they don't come to me for lessons.

I don't think we have AT&T here. Plans are usually expensive in Canada.
