For those who don't know, in the latest smash games, Nintendo made this mode call world of light where spirits of Nintendo characters inhabit characters. Two of these spirits, black fighters from punch out, was represented by donkey Kong and Diddy kong. A third black fighters was represented by a character named villager, who had black skin and had the thief ability.

now, I think all this shit is dumb, but I found this on when looking around and thought this was really funny

I'd like to believe the lack of diversity is apathy or oversight. I wouldn't be surprised if somebody were directly opposed to including black characters in key Nintendo series.

I mean, this is true. There would be people selecting Simon Belmont because they found it funny to have him whip Mr. Sandman or Doc Louis. But that's manipulated context.

By the same token, one could arrange a video game fight in which three white guys beat up a lone black guy. It's not the game being racist. It's players manipulating things to be racist because they think it's funny to do so.

That's on the player, not the company.

They still equate blacks to monkeys for gods sake. And Im not trying to be offensive, Im just pointing out something that those countries think. Its why they always hated DK and told Rare to put the DK Rap in its games and all that shit

Theyre like 100 years behind in terms of racial equality and no one talks about it

In terms of killing minorities they're several decades ahead of the US at least.

You know, today was the first time I've ever seen someone say that the DK Rap was a product of Japans Racism.

Like, that was one of the few innocent things I still had in my life, where I just thought it was some cheeky brits doing a funny.
