I quit pop this year and I've been off sugar for so long that I feel like shit whenever I have a fair amount. But I still want to dabble in some celebratory booze this Christmas season. Tips on stuff to mix with, types of booze, etc?

Gin and water or gin and tonic. Really just gin and anything you want to mix it with that is also low calories and 0 carbs.

I'm a competitive athlete. While getting drunk is never healthy per say, you can make it healthIER than other ways.

Drink before having any food so it takes much less to make you feel anything. Go to Trader Joe's if you have one near you and get tart cranberry juice without any added sugar. Pick up a second juice to sweeten it a little, like orange, tangerine, pineapple, etc. You could skip the cran altogether but it's really healthy stuff. Mix with vodka.

Again, this isn't healthy, but you're cutting your losses by adding healthy elements. I get zero hangovers even after getting trashed drinking like this.

You're not an absolutist just because you get drunk. I don't think "Okay I'm drinking so might as well throw well-being totally out the window and do a ton of blow and have unprotected sex with strangers!" I want to get drunk but if there's a way that's better for me then I'll gladly take it.

The problem for me is that if I want to get *drunk* it takes a lot of beer to do that and unlike vodka and low-sugar juice I WILL get a hangover if I'm drinking beer all night.
