You could invest in better schooling and infrastructure, fight against drugs with social programs aimed at kerbing things like drug addiction and gang indoctrination - things actually proven to reduce crime rates and gang violence. But I guess none of that is sexy and lib-owning enough.

Gofundme is basically just asking people to give you money. I'm pretty sure you don't have to give anything to people who back it unlike Kickstarter. So you can't really welch on gofundme as gofundme isn't used for offering services/goods.
