Excellent.

After several years of not doing that much gaming (not by choice, certainly), I feel really pleased with this. I was aiming to do about 600+ hours, which is some good gaming. Additionally, I've bought a new console, and have 9 games for it.

Feels great to be a hardcore gamer, again.

How about you? Roughly how many hours do you think you've put in this year? Do you think you're a casual or hardcore gamer? Do you still really enjoy gaming, like I do?

I think 600 hours is roughly the cut-off between casual and hardcore gamer. I mean, that's an average of over an hour and a half a day, which is some good gaming. Casuals are more like an hour a day, or half an hour every day (lol @ that last one).

I just wish games were cheaper, and released closer together.

I'm guessing 500, but I just checked Steam to see how many hours I have played the last two weeks and it says 64. So, I could be underestimating.

Of course, these things got up and down a lot. I remember one month, I put in about 10 hours, and another, about 75 hours.

You know, I'm surprised at this turnaround.

I did a poll, last year, where CE revealed how few hours they put in. I think the most common answer was something like 5 hours of gaming a week. That would be about 150 hours a year. Now, they're saying they put in 800 hours or 1,000 hours a year? I can't tell which time they were lying. Of course, if they really do put in that much time a year, it's very good. I'm pleased for them.

IDK bro, I'm just saying that 600 hours is enough time to get so good at an easier language that you can proceed to game/take in media/etc in that language and continue growing without actually having to put forth much effort

You can get really good at lots of things in that amount of time tho

Super C, Mega Man ZXA, FFTA, Ace Combat 04, Ass Creed Rogue, Megs Man Soccer, Beneath a Steel Sky, Unreal, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, FF5, Mega Man SF3, Mega Man 9, Mega Man 10, Kirby Return to Dreamland, Double Dragon II, Metroid Prime Hunters, Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2, Oracle of Ages, Resonance of Fate, KoF EX2, Trace Memory, Hotel Dusk, NSMB, Phoenix Wright AA, Poochy and Yoshi's Wooly World, Metroid Zero Mission, Lunar SSSC, Again, Mega Man SF2, Gladius, Oracle of Seasons, Robotech Battlecry, Mega Man BN4, Mega Man BN5 and Suikoden are the games I've played so far this year.

Oh and Mega Man I and II for GameBoy. I forgot to list them because they weren't in my backloggery history because they were already completed when I started playing them this year.

I just don't have a lot of other hobbies. Also I wanted to get as far through my backlog as possible before Baby DevsBro was born.

The handhelds are my most played systems because I walk for exercise and they let me multitask.

You know, if you did 40 hours a week, that would be about 2,000 hours a year. How great would that be?

I think in terms of bottoming out, in 2014, I did about 350 hours of gaming. Pretty sad. It was because I hadn't bought any new games in a LONG time (due to lack of money), and it was so fed up with the stuff I owned. 350 hours. Just under an hour a day.

I think that's plenty of gaming (which is good). You're lucky, with all the older stuff. I used to have access to about 10 consoles, now with my new TV, I think I only have access to 4. I still have plenty of games between those 4, and have had lots of fun with those consoles this year. Probably the most time on the Switch, but quite a lot on the Wii U and 360 as well, and a little on the Wii (but the picture is dreadful because I'm using a scart cable on an HDTV).

Also, you should think of a better name than Baby DevsBro, when the baby is born.

I still don't understand how everyone on CE is seemingly doing lots of gaming, now. This board has gone from about 5 hours a week, to 15 or 20+ hours a week. I think there might be something rotten in the state of Denmark.

I sometimes wonder which console I have the most hours in. Wouldn't be at all surprised if it was my 360, maybe 4,000 or 5,000 hours in that.

i buy most of my games on sale well after theyve been out unless its a big release ive been hyped for. every couple months at the most

I haven't paid more than $15 for a video game in years, other than P&Y Wooly World, which was $25. There are lots of perks to being a retro gamer.

On that note, I actually only bought three games this year at all, for a combined total of $30.

I know a lot of people have this fetish about buying cheap garbage on Steam, then barely / never playing it. I never understood the thing people have about Steam, never.

I just buy console games, usually either on Day 1 or in the first few months. Back in the day, I used to buy the vast majority of games on Day 1.

Back in 15 I did over 3000 hours on 3DS. Over 800 of that was on Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate.

How can someone game for 3,000 hours in a year? That's about 8 hours a day. People whine and moan at me for being NEET, but you would have to be unemployed and out of education, to put in an average of 8 hours a day. Unless you just had no other hobbies.
