I mean it is. People get fucking killed over shit in internationals.

League play is nice but it's like the difference between local tennis tournaments vs grand slams, or local track and field races vs the Olympics.

Nobody gives a fuck about mls in America and most foreign leagues are difficult to watch here. I have to jump through like 19 different hoops to watch serie A and another 19 to watch serie B

This. The whole post above was the most American sounding view of football you can possibly read.

Now, I dont deny that Messi would trade in a few league titles and CL titles to get that WC monkey off of his back, but in terms of competition quality, the Champions League is WAY better than World Cup. As are the top few domestic leagues.

If you could field the 32 top international teams against the likes of Real Madrid, Bayern, Manchester City, Liverpool, Barcalona and so on, only a few international teams would even have a chance.

League play is better at the top levels. Just because it's not popular in the US doesnt make it somehow inferior.

Things are a bit easier now than they used to be 10 years ago, but you get the message. For a while the only channel I could get that had any Italian League soccer was the spanish BeIN Sports. The english version literally wasn't even an option for me to buy even though I know it exists.

The internet has been such a blessing for watching football here. When I was little, you couldn't really even find English league on television. I used to have a friend at school who's uncle would bring me VHS recorded tapes of Liverpool games every couple of months or so, and that's how I stayed updated. >_>

The only other format was a few very dry magazines, many of which tried their best to push American soccer.
