Yeah, you only lost 8 points on that match, which would put you 24-26. I'm not sure if that's enough to take a 10th place prize depending on how many fun accounts there are.

Of course, that would require you to make the Tifa > Seph pick as well as Seph > Ryu.

Ok so with Zelda pulling ahead it looks like I might maintain 3rd depending on how many have her winnings the losers final (I feel that can't be many). And I can always hope that the 2 people above me might not be prize brackets.

It's fun to exaggerate feelings in this contest because otherwise I wouldn't find later rounds very fun. I don't like any of these characters (and I'm hardly the only one continuously calling Mario a villain).

The strength relationship between Mario, Samus, Cloud, Snake, Zelda, and basically in the Legends topic is something that very few people can agree upon. I state my opinion when results happen or when someone posts an interpretation I disagree with. Sorry that contest didn't end up working out for you, but I'm under no obligation to stop making fun of a fictional character with no feelings. I picked Mario to go to the finals so I'm not exactly insulting the people who supported him.

Also according to Extha you basically made fun of him when Sephiroth lost him the contest that one time, so

Also, ExTha reneged on an account bet we had over that match and this was at a time when ExTha and I were at loggerheads almost every day. Don't just randomly pick up statements like that with no context.

A lot of people get way too invested in these damn contests. It's kinda ridiculous how angry people are getting over rallies or Mario winning close matches or Nintendo being dominant or whatever the hell else.

It's a spectacle. The story lines are cool, it's always nice to see who goes up and down, it's always a joy to see everything I know turn out to be wrong, it's a fun and dumb diversion from the other shit in my life. I learned not to get heavily invested in this shit in 2003, and I still have as much fun watching all this as I did back in 2002 and 2003 when things were ten times as chaotic.

Can't you all just enjoy the contest without making everything god damn life-or-death?

I reiterated the 450 stuffed vote bit because I think it's ridiculous that people don't take the registered voter boost into account when looking at the match as a whole. When Mega Man 'broke' the Noble Nine, no one seemed to care that he literally got more votes than Pikachu did. The Mario/Samus was egregious because without the boost, the margin wasn't even close - and quite frankly it was fun to play up because it played perfectly into the Villain Mario narrative.

I'll be blunt: you're just upset that your bracket and you're taking it out on the first person whose posts annoyed you the most even though they had nothing to do with you directly.

Because - as you said - these aren't real characters. They're just entrants in a popularity contest voted on by people. Get over yourself. Everyone celebrates when they win and attacks the enemy when they lose in these things. Your euphoria over Mario winning was someone else's despair, and you (and a bunch of other people) were hardly silent over your happiness or 'considerate of other people's feelings' or whatever in the world you're trying to get at. I don't really care if you rallied to get the win, nor should anyone else - there's 15k other people who voted for Mario, a bunch others who rallied, a bunch others who supported him, ect. You are not Mario, and taking personal attacks against Mario as personal attacks against you is ridiculous.

Dozens of people have complained about the Mario Clutch for years. I've done it a lot less than most. I've mostly talked about registered bonus votes being bunk, and Mario using his Hierarchy to worm his way over matches he (probably) shouldn't be winning. I'm the guy who makes the x-stats so this is kind of important for me to talk about.

P.S. I actually wanted to rally for Samus (and Cloud) but didn't because I saw you being passionate about the results and didn't want to mess with outcomes that didn't really matter to me. So stuff it.

i dont think cloud got rallied significantly at all

there were a few posts on reddit that never gained traction, and a donation on twitch that was more an experiment than anything, and ended up giving cloud a net gain of maybe 50 votes.

For sure he was rallied. Discussed on discord.

People on this board conveniently ignore the terrible rallies of the characters they like, and often invent or exaggerate their opponent's rally. You saw the people complain about the minimal MMX rally when there were thousands of hentai rally votes for Tifa. Same thing with the Mario matches

Nah. Mario lost today but I'm OK with it. Losing to Samus would've been an embarrassment, losing to Cloud just sets up an awesome runback next contest. There's no reason to get mad about a loss that makes things interesting - because I'm p sure if he hadn't beaten Samus a couple days ago, Mario takes this match in a close one.

People have been treating these fictional characters as real entities with their own agency since 2002. It's part of the kayfabe of these contests, it's part of the fun. No one has seriously complained about it, let alone taken it personally, until now. I think you might need a nap bro.

You can lose and just accept it. Yeah, you'll be a bit upset your character didn't win, especially if it's in a heartbreaking fashion, but then you accept it, move on, and enjoy the rest of the contest.

I was rooting for Mario and enjoyed the squeaker win against Samus. He fell to Cloud, and that's fine with me. I can respect that Cloud's still showing some impressive strength and get to see if he can still prove he's the site's #2 in what looks to be a slightly closer version of the previous match. I got to watch lots of cool upsets, some midcarders rise to elite status, and a few newcomers impress, even if some of my favorites didn't make it very far.

All in all, this was a great contest and I'm glad after sixteen years we still have great experiences like these.
