Everything in Hero of Ages was well established within the entirity of the book, and we'll explained. I struggled immensely with that book because its 1200 pages and for a good 800 of those pages, it's a lot of build up and exposition. The last 300ish pages are really great and IMO worth the major slog of reading through. It's not like the first 800 pages are necessarily bad, it's that they contain very few really great parts and all to much boring set up.
