It still has that big-ass time jump the show had, and still focuses on "human/political drama over zombies" but it's handled much better

Just read an issue where several characters debate on the merits of a rigid class system in a community and I ain't even mad.

Yeah, i agree. The show is fairly shallow in comparison and doesnt have the payoffs.

It builds and builds but rarely has a good payoff in return.

Literally the only thing I think the show has differently that I think is a good choice is the Rick & Michonne relationship. In the comics, it would never work, because they're too different. But Andrew & Danai have incredible chemistry.

I stopped around when Neegan is put into a prison in Alexandria or wherever. I felt like that was a good stopping point.

Yea if you're looking to stop the series, that's as good a point as any to jump off.

Like I said tho, there's a big time jump after that and it's almost like a soft-reboot

the stuff that comes after is definitely different from the series beforehand, but it's just as good imo

Oh, not denying that. But I pretty much gave up on the show when they massacred Andrea's character.
