For those who doubt that women have rape fantasies, here are a few studies to read about.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19085605

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18321031

https://www.researchgate.net/publication/5531382_Women's_Erotic_Rape_Fantasies_An_Evaluation_of_Theory_and_Research

This is an article on the first study:
https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/slightly-blighty/201508/womens-sexual-fantasies-the-latest-scientific-research

So could this be part of a bigger problem?

Some men simply don't know how far they should take things?

I am very respectful of those who have actually been victims of sexual violence and this is in no way to devalue the heinousness of those acts or to legitimize them.

With the current debate about the Christmas carol "Baby It's Cold Outside" I think we need to look at things from all perspectives possible and this imo is just one of them.

Actually, the line "I'm going to disembowel you, Santa" in the Christmas classic "Let's Disembowel Santa" isn't about slicing Santa open to remove his steaming bowels. The song was written during a brief period in 1953 when "disembowel" was slang for giving someone a fig cookie.

Never heard about that song before or that term.

Is it from another country?

Rape fantasies are definitely a thing but I don't think the song has anything to do with it. It's just a 1940s version of modern rap songs about wanting to fuck some thot really bad.

It's insane that anyone still brings this up. You can tell that someone doesn't have a good grasp on real issues if they think this song is problematic.

You might be correct but things were quite different in those days.
Husbands could beat their wives etc apart from other things.

However, this didn't all come about by chance.
Even today I see women reject men because they are "soft" or not aggressive enough.

There's nothing wrong with the song, and hardly anyone cares about it.

Some women have that specific fetish, but they want it acted out in a safe and controlled way. No woman want's be raped, i refuse to believe that.

I actually hope this music censorship thing goes into overdrive again like the PMRC in the 1980s, thus ushering in a new era of awesome anti-censorship music with balls.

No.

It's a play on the fact that in the 1930's or w/e a woman was an absolute slut if she accepted a man's advances. The point is that she actually WANTS to say yes, but she can't due to societal pressures, and she is more concerned with what people will think than about the man taking advantage of her.

Now a man cant discipline his wife for burning the pot roast

not even allowed to smoke whenever or wherever they please.

What happened to Murika??? When will we be allowed again to sell lead paint or allow pregnant women to smoke? The good ol days!

Yep. The song is misogynistic not because the man wants her to stay but rather because the nosy neighbor, the brother, the sister, everyone will talk. The woman doesnt have the freedom to make her own choice.

the song is only rapey if you apply modern language to an old song. the song was written before date rape drugs were even invented. the "whats in this drink" line is not referring to that. shes just saying it's getting her drunk. the song was written by a married couple. it's supposed to be flirting. she's coming up with reasons to stay overnight with a man. but doesn't want to come right out say "let's have sex"

peope outraged by the song are using modern assumptions and understanding on a song from a completely different era and culture
