In Tales of the Abyss, just for example, every continent has a name, some seas have a name, every river has a name, and several archipelagos have a name. It makes the world a lot more memorable.

That's one thing I really liked in BotW

Every mountain, landmark, sea, river, or ruin had a name.

It gives the world a sense of history. Helps it feel lived in.

This is a good point. I remember I had this foldout map of the world in Golden Sun, and appreciation g the named areas and geographic features.

Eh, BotW lacks pretty much any major bodies of water, so you really don't get nearly as many different geographical formations as other games.

Ultima did this already, in 1980.

Yeah, I like geography too. A game should have a few major "regions", and then smaller sections within them with names, and of course, more specific things like buildings and towns, etc.

People should stop being obsessed with sandbox games, though.

if you look at the second map, around crossbell, it said "crossbell" province instead of "state"
because crossbell was annexed

political geography is one of the main focus in the series. it's fucking fascinating
