Because Superman doesn't have a secret identity. From the start he's been very upfront about who he is. He's Kal-El, the last son of the doomed planet Krypton. He was raised in America's heartland and he lives in the Fortress of Solitude in the North Pole.

He knows Lois and Clark because they deal with him a lot. Otherwise he wouldn't care.

Yeah the not uncommon theme with Lex stories is that while Superman can physically stop whatever plan Lex has brewing, it typically takes Lois/Clark to actually expose him in a way that gets him in trouble.

This is the answer provided in Birthright. Lex and Clark were childhood friends... sort of. But of course Lex was by far the smartest person in Smallville for the short time he was there and it frustrated him to no end. The only thing more powerful than Lex's ego was his disdain for the idiots surrounding him, to the point that he would rather assume he made a mistake than assume there's anything special about Clark.

Lena not knowing in Supergirl kills me. Like with the greater Superman mythos, I understand that people don't link Clark and Superman because they genuinely don't think that Superman has a secret identity. But like Supergirl and Kara share the exact same, incredibly specific group of friends (which include three top members of a top-secret government organization, two of whom are aliens, and the CEO of a major news organization).

Like Lena can show up at a party at Kara's house and then the next day go to the DEO to help them out and the only difference in the people there is that Kara is wearing glasses at one of the places.
