A Small Texas community is backing a teacher who has been heavily criticized for having students RECITE a BIBLE VERSE EVERYDAY!!

1st Grade Teacher, Susan Schobel from Smithville posted a video of her students reading a bible verse from a passage in the New Testament book of Romans

In the now deleted video, the Brown Primary School kids gathered in a CIRCLE in their clasroom as they can be heard saying "Love from the centre of who you are; don't fake it, Run for dear life from evil; hold on for dear life to good"

Her supporters are all behind her as one said "I've been wanting to do this my whole teaching career but thought i couldn't. You are amazing!"

Another sid "As a parent, i love it. i got your back! We all need Jesus!!"

Dane Garrison shared the hashtag #IStandWithSusan who saidd "I believe everyone has a right to stand up for what they believe in. So do i...i believe in love and kindness being taught in our classrooms. She has touched and enriched the lives of so many children over the years and God is watching and helping Susan spread his word"

There are now balck t-shirts with her name on it with the Romans verse 12:9-10 and that the proceeds will be given to the Smithville Born AGain Emporium who claim they spread the love of God each week.

One parent, Charle Lucko however is against it and said "I actually love Jesus. I love his teaching, his practices, and it's been a big impact in my life but i don't believe that belongs in the public school system"

According to one expert, she violated teh 1963 Supreme Court ruling that said bible readings and prayer in public schools is unconstitutional

Superintendent Cheryl Burns however said "We support the right of students to express themselves. We support our employees, free speech and free exercise rights as well, while being mindful of their on-duty responsibilities".

Do you support bible readings in public schools??

I feel people go about the whole bible thing thw qrong way. They just want peoplr to repeat it and not really learn the lessons that are provided or meant to teach in the verses. Peopel can read and remember the entire bible but not understand a word of it.

Edit: the qouted verse is a great verse and one that doesn't need much to explain the meaning behind it. Stuff like that i am okay with.

I'm all for the "be excellent to each other" parts, but if they stray into the "you can drink bleach and be ok if you believe hard enough" territory, then things get weird.

That has been going on for a long time. Ever since one translation turned "satans", who are supposed to make one think about their positions, to learn, into a singular evil being that is always wrong "because we say so".

What do you expect from the bible belt? But no. If they want to learn about religion, then there are dedicated places for them to learn. School is not one of those places.
