I recommend against do that actually. It is definitely more efficient but is also super boring. When I play I stick to only using skills that are my majors and adjust the difficulty if enemies start to outscale me and take too long to kill.

Also play a spellsword. Go Nord with Heavy Armor, Block, Blunt, Destruction, Restoration, Alteration, and Alchemy. Take the sign of the Lady for extra endurance and willpower and grab Caliban's Grim Retort for a really good weapon you can get early then do the Arena and Mage's Guild recommendations simultaneously.

Some mods can unlevel the game so you can encounter anything at any level. Some mods make the game more handplaced and less leveled to you but still utilize the level scaling somewhat (Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul is excellent and does just this) and there are some mods that embrace the leveling but rebalance everything around the leveling. I would also highly suggest Maskar's Oblivion Overhaul, which is compatible with absolutely everything right out of the box (except one very specific case, being Supreme Magicka, which is compatible if you edit an .ini file.)

Personally I use a heavily edited version of Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul and Maskar's Oblivion Overhaul.

IIRC even with perfect leveling, the stats gained by enemies will exceed your own growth by 31, but because the enemy table changes before then, your own stat growth effectively ties up with their by the 23-26 range.

I did perfect 5/5/1 leveling with a Breton once
it was awful. so dumb and I saw no payout because the enemies were still stronger than me

did get the best loot though

Yeah I like putting thought into builds but I hate having to micromanagey whole playthrough so vanilla oblivion is a BITCH lol

You can fix the whole thing with 3 changes.
1: Low level enemies never completely stop appearing
2: High level creatures and enemy NPCs don't infinitely scale. Just put a cap on them and it would be great. (Note: This would also mean that NPC enemies don't end up having nothing but glass, ebony, and daedric equipment.)
3: Leveled items either A) scale with the player, or B) just aren't leveled.

And that fixes every problem with the level scaling.

I think Im going with a female bosmer. Shes a bard who prefers not to get in direct combat but when she has to fight she usually relies on magic but is decent with a blade. Im running almost entirely qol and immersion mods plus a modified Oscuros Oblivion Overhaul that I cant play without anymore.

I died in the tutorial dungeon
I forgot just how fragile bosmer were with this mod haha, and the goblins arent weaker than regular goblins so running into the big room with the 4 isnt a good idea.

One thing I really like about PC is knowing how to make small tweaks and changes. I didnt realize that the Beast Tongue power was terrible and only worked up to level 5, so I just changed it to work up to 22. That covers all non-boss animals with Oscuros Mod.

not really no

oblivion's curse stacking system lets you make an enemy like 1,500% weak to an element. cast weakness to magic, then weakness to element. you can even cast weakness to magic, then weakness to magic, and get double-weakness to magic.

you can do this in an AoE effect and then cast a low-damage AoE spell and watch all your enemies go flying

when you realize this, you can ignore all the 5/5/1 shit and just run a breton with items geared for magic resist so you are immune to all enemy magic, and walk around nuking everything in 2-3 casts

also, iirc, you can cast self-buffs that raise your stat that determines base mana, and stack them up to have enough mana to do whatever you want

i should re-open my old character and post my spell chains.

5/5/1 is inferior to 5/5/5 because Luck really isn't a great stat, especially for a magic user. It's basically just a boost for all your skills which are under 100, and a lot of skills are really easy to max out. You can make a custom 1 magicka cost spell from each magic school, and put an elastic band around the cast button and check on it every few minutes to max out those skills. Make a destroy armor on self spell and periodically repair your armor to level up bot Destruction and Armorer for endurance at the same time. Go find a mudcrab, and stand there while continuously casting a 3 cost healing spell to level up your armor skill and Restoration at the same time. Grab a waterbreathing item and aim yourself into a corner in a pool of water to level up Athletics. You never need to worry about Mercantile because you can just create a fortify Mercantile and Charisma spell for 3 seconds, and cast it right before talking to any merchant, it will even allow you to invest in their shop. Once you've taken castle Battlehorn and buy the kitchen upgrade, you can get infinite ingredients to level up Alchemy and make fat stacks of gold.

And if you want a really powerful weapon, enchant it in this order:
Elemental damage 10 pts (up to you which element)
Elemental Weakness 100% for 1 sec (obviously the same type as the damage)
Weakness to Magic 100% for 4 seconds

If enchanted in this order, every hit from this weapon will cause both weaknesses to stack on the target, which means after a few hits you will start dealing catastrophic damage.

Also learn some Illusion for a spammable Invisibility spell. You can farm Oblivion Gates easily and quickly with that.

If you do it late it'll be really tough with all the Xivilai and Valkynaz but you don't have to do it super early. 10 gates appear after taking Martin to Weynon Priory and I think a possible 15 more randomly open in the wilderness. I'm in Chorrol now and heading to Kvatch after I do a quest or two. I think I get a break in the main quest after taking Martin to Cloud Ruler though so that'll be when I start doing some actual work and exploring.
