Or about paying for others food? The day after Thanksgiving, I went to a restaurant with my SOs family. And before we could get the bill and pay, my SOs brother went and paid for everything. I always feel weird when someone else pays for my food. Its different with very close family like mom, brother, etc., though.

How about you guys?

Nah I'm poor as shit. If someone wants to show me how rich and generous they are by paying for my calories, they're more than welcome. Pride's a fool's game.

I mean, dont get me wrong. I do like that I dont have to pay, as I dont have a lot of money most of the time. But it still makes me feel a little weird sometimes... And sometimes, thats what they want... Though I dont think that was his brothers intentions were...

I do.

But then it really depends on the situation. If it was my father paying, (which he insists upon otherwise he'll view it as an insult), then I don't mind.

But I usually am the fastest person at the table to take out her wallet. So, when with acquaintances, I'm usually the one to pay. With close friends, we take turns because if we don't, we'd just go back and forth trying to convince the other that we should be the one to pay.

Over the years I have learnt to read my companions' body language. If they seem a bit hesitant or fumble with their pocket or purse I just go for the bill directly.

EDIT: On the other hand, if they insist to pay, then I'll let it go. Although it does make me feel....."weird".

I've got a friend who, when he just wants to hang out, will invite me to some pretty expensive places and then pick up the cheque. It does feel a little weird, but he's the one that insists we go to these places and that moderates how weird I'm willing to feel about it.
