a lot of reviews says that mostly every credit card company is a scummy business with poor customer service. I just need something to boost my credit card score. Buy a small thing everything month and pay it off.

Go with one from your bank if you can. If not, Capital One's secured card. A lot of people that leave those reviews are people who max out their cards and get fucked over on interest. They're angry so they say things that are often exaggerated or untrue. Even still, don't go with strange companies, go with big names that have tons of positive reviews that drown out the negative ones.

Every time you use your credit card, you're spending money you don't actually have. People need to realize that. The goal is to keep your card utilization below 30%, make 100% of your payments on time and that's how you show companies and lenders your creditworthiness... aka, how your score goes up.
