Gimple caused a lot of actors to want to leave the show, but Kang is handling everything surprisingly well.

Are they still in Alexandria? Because that's pretty much the main reason it started to suck.

It actually resembled a horror movie in that mid season finale.... It was great.

They are, but it hasn't really been in focus that much this season.

Also Judith Grimes is already ten times cooler than Carl.

8 seasons to do what?
The only bad seasons are seven and eight... Nine is really good.

There's still no sense of adventure or exploration anymore. The post-apocalyptic setting is now an afterthought as it's turned into a basic tribal drama.

1, arguably 2, 3, 5 and now 9 were all great.

The post-apocalyptic setting would have gotten old if they kept with it.

I like seeing actual civilization again, because now with the Whisperers, it contrasts perfectly with what our survivors are doing.

It's weird that I didn't see that coming in spite of having heard of that group based on wikipedia about the comics (granted I only knew the name, not what it meant) and I had been predicting things about them since last season regarding Anne/Jadis, as I've been suspecting her of being the "Alpha" character that according to what I've read is the leader of the group.

That last Negan scene caught me off guard too. I'm looking forward to seeing how that plays out, and in a way I'm half-expecting him to actually help the main groups in the face of the new threat. I don't really see what use he has otherwise tbh.

In the comics, Negan breaks out of jail and everybody is freaking out about what his next move will be. What he ends up doing is he goes to the Whisperers' camp, gets a private meeting with Alpha, then decapitates her and brings her head to Rick as a sign of loyalty to him. And he actually stays firmly on the side of Alexandria after this.

They kinda did things early, so they might just do what they did with Governor in Season 4 and have him wander a bit, with an episode centered around him.

Which is exactly what would happen in a post apocalyptic scenario. Once things stabilize you settle in and try to rebuild.

Except people were complaining for years that the Walking Dead was running in circles.

"Survivors find new place, either something shady is going on that forces them to leave, or the place gets destroyed, forcing them to leave. Rinse and repeat."

You cannot support a 10+ season show off of just that.
