I got pushed out through that same process. It's fine and I'm in an overall better place with a much nicer landlord. But what rights would there be?

Most people we talked to said they keep on raising rents. One person they talked to said it was up to 1800 a month. Which is ridiculous. Bad location, and not a high standard of housing.

First person we talked to let us in. Single mother 3 little kids. Her last place burnt down, and she was afraid of getting pushed out of this one.

The reason the building was bought because a new T stop is opening there, so they want higher renters because poor people aren't allowed to live in decent locations.

There are plenty places to live. Dont want to leave, go get more money. Dont want to leave, get a roomie. Everyone has a right to make a profit, not just the landlord.

That's not a nice way of thinking honestly. What if you found a nice place with a reasonable price, and the next best place that you can move to adds an additional hour to your commute. Guess I should quit that job and find a new one. Or go get more educated to get a better job that doesn't get fucked by having to move? Not to mention moving is a hassle as it is. Maybe I should get a new job that entitled me to screwing over the landlord somehow...maybe become mayor and put in new laws that fuck him over. Then you can go and tell him there are plenty of buildings to buy, can't afford that one? go get more money, you really can't afford it, go to another state and buy that building. Everyone has a right to make a profit not just the mayor.

the number of low income rentals are disappearing. remember when my rent went up 250$. it isn't easy to find something reasonable plus i'm still on a waiting list to try for something that will be 800$ which can go up or down based on monthly income.

guessing in the next 5 years more options will open since by then my dog will have died to old age and that tether will release with more options since most places won't allow large breed dogs.

Yes, the area and the property increases in value.
But how does this help the people who are living in rented apartments? How do they benefit from the increased value there? They can't rent out their own apartment, or sell it.
I don't think their wages are going to just increase past what they are (which is likely minimum wage, or just above it), suddenly because the neighborhood where they live is worth a bit more. Does it?
