I don't think anything will ever dethrone the Miata. There's nothing wrong with owning and driving a Miata as a guy, but you should acknowledge that it is definitely the quintessential chick car.

as much as I love the Miata (I own a 91), it's definitely not a masculine car. butidgaf because it's easily the best car I've ever driven in terms of feel, handling and fun factor

I think the PT Cruiser or New Beetle are girlier though. for fucks fake, the Beetle had an option to come with a vase and flower in the dash

I like how the Miata owners aren't even the ones getting upset. Like I said, just because it's got a sassy personality for a car doesn't mean it can't be a lot of fun. Most smaller sports cars are going to look pretty non-masculine next to classic american muscle, but that doesn't mean they're bad to own.

oh, the MR2 Spyder is also a car that I legit see mostly driven by women. which is also a shame because it's a good sports car with Toyota reliability and lots of upgrade potential, but the looks are just so... soft

I don't think I've ever seen a woman driving a Miata. I'll see a woman driving an F-150 before I see one in a Miata.

Crossover SUVs (any make) rank as #1 to me. If I see a man driving one, that's cool - he's just driving his wife's car.

This. The Miata has a rep of being a "chick car" but I've only ever seen men driving them across all age group, the older models anyway. Due to it's small size, soft exterior curves there's the notion that they're something only women drive, not knowing that it's one of the preeminent handling sports car of the last 30 years. They're lightweight roadsters, rear wheel drive, handle extremely well, reliable, cheap, manual gearbox. Understeer? Never. It's very much a driver's car, that's why they tend to be popular in autocross.
