I'm certain the film will be rated PG, and I'm not talking heavy swears like "bitch" or "shit", but stuff like "damn" and "hell". Both are so basic that they're hardly considered swears anymore, but it would still be rather remarkable for them to show up in Pokemon media (the trailer already has "Oh my god" and "shove it").

...Then again, if it's forced, it could easily end up in a Shadow the Hedgehog situation.

What's it rated? I have to imagine if it's PG then "shove it" is the worst you'll get, but if it's PG-13 then you might get a damn or two in there.

Mario said "Where the hell are we?" in Super Mario Bros.: The Movie. It's possible that this film would have something of that nature.

Then again, Nintendo didn't have the leverage back then that they do now. They have some control issues like making sure that Bowser was the largest villain in Wreck-It Ralph. So, yeah, they probably mandated that there wouldn't be any cursing or at least that Pikachu wouldn't curse.

It'll drop a damn/hell/ass in a single focused moment as a "haha could you imagine Pikachu saying that?"

Nintendo has nothing to do with the film. The Pokemon Company is handling it.

Pokemon is overall owned by Nintendo, but TPC manages just about every aspect of the series, and they don't actually have much overlap with Nintendo outside of Smash Bros.

It'll be squeaky-clean for almost the whole movie, then the final scene before the credits, Pikachu just goes "FUCK YEAH!"

No but there's definitely going to be a close-up shot of Pikachu's face where you think he's about to drop a heavy swear word but they turn it into a hilarious pun instead

I'd bet a lot of money that there's a scene where Pikachu is pissed and starts to curse at someone, but the camera cuts to the other side's viewpoint and the curse is replaced with aggressive sounding "pikas".
