For some reason been thinking about this all day. I had a friend when i was a kid who had a bunk bed but had no siblings. Perfect for sleep overs but kinda sad the rest of the time.

Nah, sometimes you can have the top bunk and you could also make a fort out of the bottom one.

I had one. It was cool being able to choose which bed to sleep on and you could do so much with bunk beds and imagination.

I guess but it kinda seems like your parents were saying this is a place holder for another kid then never got around to it :(
