It refers to characters that are quadrupedal. The Lion King, My Little Pony, and 101 Dalmatians would qualify as feral characters.

Outside of the furry community, the term feral always applies to wild behavior rather than an animal-like physique. It completely contradicts what it means to be a sapient quadrupedal when you label them as "feral."

If somebody told me they liked feral characters, and I didn't know what that meant, I'd assume it was bestiality lingo for liking real animals.

Sounds like one of those things were someone would avoid learning the distinction because the concept repulses them.

Same shit happens with people who refer to all metal as "that screamo music." Basically shorthand for "I don't know what I'm talking about but that don't stop me from having an opinion on it."
