Why? I live on the ground floor. I'm not giving people any opportunity at all to look inside my apartment. Why would anyone want that?

Not to mention the fact that certain times of the year, I would have the sun glaring directly in my face if windows weren't covered.

The house in front of mine has this. The windows are covered in some reflective material from the inside, like aluminum foil or those foldable windshield shades. I think they are renting from the people who lived there before.

We have blinds, which I close when the sun is coming in from that side, but I open when the sun moves.

They sell some kind of reflective tint to cut down on cooling, I've seen it in hardware stores. Maybe that's what it is? Or is it actually like straight up reflective material jammed into the windows?

The glass is normal glass. It actually looks like they affixed the aforementioned car shade, or the interior lining of a cooler, to the window. It didn't look like that when the owners lived there, about 1.5 years ago.

I put dark construction paper in my bedroom windows to keep the sun out. My bedroom windows face the east AND there are 2 street lights outside, so my room is like a fucking tanning booth most of the time.

Curtains don't keep out enough light, so I guess I'm "incredible" trashy and shady.

I am aware of blackouts, but my windows have those curtain rod hangers that jut out from the wall. I'm not going to destroy the walls to put up the kinds of curtains that would sit flush against the window.

Yeah, I dont buy that. I cover my windows because I grew up in a place where home invasions were actually sensationalized to the point of it being extremely common. I lock every door and basically just dont want people seeing inside.

Honestly, I always felt like there was something odd about people who dont mind having strangers see into their home.

I'm only speaking from experience. I work in pest control, and all the nice houses/apartments we service have normal curtains in the windows.

Almost all the most disgusting ones have bedsheets and table cloths and black garbage bags tacked up in the windows so that there's literally no way to see in or out of the windows.

I guess I should've been more specific, since I'm not really referring to standard curtains. My bad.

I actually live with my fiancee in an affordable/workforce housing apartment building. Even so, we have a nice big window in our living room overlooking the downtown area of our village. No need for personal insults.

I don't really follow your reasoning here though. If you live in a bad area, wouldn't you want to be able to see out your windows to keep an eye on the riffraff? A bedsheet/curtain isn't going to stop a bullet/brick from going through your window.

Ever had a gun pulled on you at work? I have.

Its to stop people from seeing what you have. Having a large TV where the whole town can see it is a good way to get robbed some places.

The only window in my appartment where ppl could look in is my bedroom window which faces a brick wall thats like 5ft away, people walk by there pretty often and its just awkward since I spend all my time in my room. Guess I'm trashy for not wanting people looking at me laying on my bed all day in weird positions. :/

Actually we've ironically had the opposite problem where me and my fiance have a bedroom window that faces sideways, towards the window of our neighboring apartment's living room window. We have blackout curtains that we close at night but keep open for our plants during the day.

Our old neighbor never kept their curtains closed, and would wave to us if they saw us in our bedroom (which even I thought was a little weird), but it was harmless enough. Our new neighbor who moved in a few weeks ago had them open for about a week, and then a week later they're closed 24/7. I assume they saw us having sex or saw one of us naked or something, because they haven't opened it once since then lol.
