Do you have any incentives to keep you contributing to your 401k like an employer match? Do you believe that the rates of return would be better in a Roth? Why not both?

I'd just transfer from the 401k to the IRA. No reason to keep measly amounts of money in several 401ks over the course of my life imo. And company investors aren't really looking to make me money. But in terms of matched retirement yeah that's a thing.

Who the heck is your 401k managed by? I've only ever dealt with Fidelity and I more or less have complete control over how the money is managed. My company has nothing to do with it other than putting the money into it.

You can roll over 401ks into other 401ks with no penalty.

I'd get a hold of HR and read the fine print on the plan, since that sort of thing usually requires disclosure. But if you're just generally worried, it's your money and there isn't anything bad about a Roth.

Meh, I don't know what the hell is wrong with these 401k people. They don't offer much help or information.
