for recommending me a credit card

I'm at about the one year mark and I have literally $300 of points. PLUS the $150 signup bonus which covered most of my plane ticket to/from Vegas.

How can you go about life not having a credit card? I mean not only did my credit score just recently break the 800 mark, but this is literally free money. Just be a responsible adult, don't change your spending habits, and don't miss any payments.

credit cards are useful if you can make the card work for you rather than the other way around.

in my case they want me to work for the card and it isn't so much of a good one.

Also. Did you get the Chase Unlimited Freedom?

I started off with the Chase Sapphire Reserve which had a steep annual $450 fee, but comes with 300$ annual travel credits so basically 150$ fee. Got $500(50,000pts) after spending 3,000 in 4 months or something.

Now have over 70,000 points.
And now I just got my Chase Freedom Unlimited which should get me 15,000 points as well.

Plan to use my Reserve Card only for food now because I get triple points and use my Freedom card for everything else because I get 1.5pts for ever 1 on everything else. And the Freedom has no annual fee so thats good.

Yeah

The Sapphire Reserve would be a good next step, but I just don't spend enough to get the signup bonus, which is a big reason to sign up for a given card. I also don't travel much these days. It'll be a good card down the road, I just don't have enough need for it right now.

Lucky for me, I was able to pay my rent with the credit card and my other bills so It was slightly easy. Dont pay the rent anymore with it a card since it has a higher fee though.

Been wanting to use my rewards but I'm saving it up for a trip to the Philippines around Christmas which cost a lot more than other times.
Was able to use the 300$ travel credit for my Japan trip tickets.

Yeah I don't have anything planned at this point, but if I were to plan something, these points would be a perfect opportunity. I mean flying really isn't that bad these days, I could easily find a ticket on a reputable airline (basically not Frontier, Spirit, or Suncountry) for <$300 (varies by location ofc), so I'd really just have to pay for the hotel

Or maybe I wait another year and pay for the flight and the hotel lmfao

I got the Chase Unlimited Freedom recently too. Rewards are good but since I have a wedding coming up I'm liking the 0 interesr for 18 months. Pretty sure I have enough to pay for all it upfront but better safe than sorry.

Alternatively this might not be a bad opportunity to open a second credit card, pay for it all up front, and get yourself another fatty signup bonus

Like in my case with the Sapphire Reserve, there's no way I spend $4k in three months to hit the signup bonus. But if I was paying for a big thing like this, then it'd be the perfect time to open it up since you'll be paying for it anyways.

Depends. If you can pay off for the big things with cash and the 450$ fee after a couple months. The Freedom is good for spending a lot that you might need more time to pay off since it has the 0% interest for the first whatever months.
That and I get more points for non food or travel stuff with the freedom card than the reserve.
