Would Wonder Woman have a somehow less emotional journey if she died, or had her back broken? Why didn't Doomsday whip out his... I am uncertain if he had genitals actually, but anyway, give Superman a rough time? Not sure what the term is I am looking for here, but why is the only emotional journey a woman can experience is rape?

Calling Invincible a ripoff just shows you haven't read it. All he shares with Superman is being a superpowered alien. All he shares with Nightwing is a last name. You could make a better case for it ripping off DBZ, but that still would be BS.

Pretty sure that comment referred to the character not the series.

Feel free to disagree, but in the case of Wonder Woman, death, I imagine, would be an honorable way to go.

Being raped, on the other hand, that would be a violation, both literally and figuratively of what her character is and stands for.

The Death of Superman was a story of how the world had to deal with their god dying, not the story of how Superman dealt with his death while dead... because he was dead.

Harelyquinn also raped Robin (or nightwing whatever) in one of the shitty movies.

She captured him, tied him to a bed and fucked him against his will.

Roles reversed and the movie would be banned

If the roles were reversed, it wouldn't be banned, but it definitely wouldn't have been played for laughs either.

The character is named Invincible. The series is named for the character.

Little did he know that society would be so sensitive that despite being cancelled people would still find it and be offended by it in 2018.

I think Wonder Woman is a horrible choice for this style of story.

I think if your idea is to dedicate 22 pages to the rape itself you're probably not the right person for the job to do this kind of plot in general.

Would have been a horrible move by DC if they went with it.

No, she didn't. Just because you didn't like a movie, doesn't give you the right to make bold faced lies about it.

Then what point were you trying to make? The comment I was replying to was about the character, my reply was about the character. So what point did your "uhm actually" post serve here?

How do you even spend 22 pages about rape? Kinda feels like something that would be off-screen and most of it would be about dealing with it, which has happened multiple times in these comics before

Re-watch the scene, she seduced him, the sex was consensual.

No. I feel like a 22-page rape scene should be like, illegal.

What crime would this fall under?

Yeah most fans aren't interested in extended scenes of rape. There's an infamous manga called Wolf Guy that is just despised by practically everyone cause the author thought it would be a good idea to have the heroine get gangraped for multiple chapters near the end

yeah wtf. if that dude was raped i doubt he'd make a joke about it.

Yeah no, as someone who's been raped, joking about that stuff is a necessary coping mechanism for a lot of people.

Umm, waffle, what happened?

Didn't know Wonder Woman was a viking

I mean, Vikings aren't the only culture that glorifies death.

The problem with rape in comics is that it is rarely given any sort of the emotional heft a story like that deserves. More often than not it's just lazily used on female characters to give them tragic backstories or "depth".

Mark Millar is definitely not the person to write a story about rape. Mark Millar is at his best when he has minimal creative freedom and watched heavily by editorial. Or when he can just have Grant Morrison ghost write for him.
