Get a New 2DS XL. Has the same folding build style as the 3DS, but ditches the 3D, and is cheaper I think. Looks really nice too

You'll have a little trouble with like two levels in Super Mario 3D Land that utilize your depth perception in kind of a clever way

That's literally it.

Some games actually take a nasty framerate dip with the 3D on, and it runs down your battery faster. The 3D on the 3DS is one of those things where occasionally you'll see something that heavily contrasts between the foreground and the background, so you'll turn it up for a second and say "oh, that's kind of neat i guess" and then turn it back off. You are missing nothing by foregoing it.

Just make sure to get a New model. There are a handful of games that require it, but a good number of newer games have significantly faster loading times or get better frame rates and stuff on the New model.

Off-hand, I know I have Mario Kart, that first 3DS Ace Attorney game, Link Between Worlds, Mario 3D Land, some Centipede thing, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, and some Virtual Console stuff (or w/e that's even called on a 3DS, I don't know l0l)

And just in case you're wondering, since the 3DS line is a massive mess:

There are two tiers of 3DS, "New" ones and not new ones. If it has "New" in the title, you're getting the better CPU and the Amiibo reader.

The New 2DS XL has a hinge and is basically like any other New 3DS, minus the 3D. The 2DS does not have a hinge, and is basically like one big solid piece. But it's not in the New line, so, it's not recommended.

There is no New 2DS non-XL, and no 2DS XL.

i was an Ace Attorney megafan, so if the newest game is good i'm gonna be all over that ASAP

It's the third best in the series imo behind T&T and Investigations 2. Definitely better than Dual Destinies.

True, I only didn't mention it since its on every current platform known to man. But if you really want a good Resident Evil game Revelations is better. Although I personally like both alot.

It's still one of my main gaming platforms.

There aren't many N3DS exclusives but the better 3D effect makes it worth the upgrade. The 3D effect itself isn't enhanced but it doesn't go blurry as easily when you turn the system at an angle. It makes it actually usable.

damn i didn't know they made another one. i need to get that one. dual destinies was great and so was layton vs wright. if you never played the professor layton games definitely check those out.

new 3ds xl is the way to go i think. i never use the 3d on mine(original XL) but still nice to have it there for the times i do wanna look at it...even if i haven't in like 5 years.

yeah i was up until way late last night playing through the first case. for a case #1 it's really damned intense.

i think the original game will always be #1 to me simply because i loved the atmosphere of the thing

Yeah but ewww why waste your phone battery life on games that arent phone exclusive, probably will be incompatible within a few major firmware updates and probably run a lot less stable than the 3DS version.
