Bush gets more hate than they deserve tbh. They just got kinda wrote off as Nirvana rip-offs, but they've got some good shit tbh.

High five.

Were you the one who recommended them to me relatively recently?

Started checking them out a few days ago, they're enjoyable.

starting too late isn't usually what defines a 'post' genre, is it?

For grunge it kinda does. There's some people who don't consider any bands outside of Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and Alice in Chains to be grunge.

It's a very poorly defined genre overall tbh.

Love it though.

Such a Bush-y remark.

They're post grunge. It just has a different sound to it than Grunge. I love both almost equally. But there's clear differences. None that I know how to put into words. But they're there.

I've always understood the "post-" genre prefix to imply it's taking the ideas of the parent sound and working them into a new context, or integrating a more varied set of influences.

And in the case of post-grunge, that new context was watered-down bullshit. (For a lot of it, at least. Some is probably alright.)

Yeah, I honestly think all the tracks on their first two albums are at least good, and I kind of like the second album more. Some of my favorites are Little Things, Comedown, Body, Alien, Mouth, Synapse, Commuicator, Distant Voices. They were awesome.

You should check out "The Chemicals Between Us" too. It's the last song they made I like, on an album I don't. It has the searing guitars of their previous stuff with a pretty cool electronic tinge to it, prompted by the chart success they had just had with a remixed version of "Mouth."

They're objectively post grunge. They're music is grunge influenced but it has a very poppy, sugary, commercial sound to it. That's post grunge.

They did. Mainstream America liked them alright and that's about it. Critics and Europe largely rejected them as Nirvana knock-offs.

What? Bleach had a fairly raw sound.

But the songwriting itself is very melodic and hooky. Nevermind was a fulfillment and evolution of what he started on Bleach. Cobain was chasing Lennon/McCartney for a long time.

Been a long while since I listened to 12 Stone, but I remember liking the album years ago.

I like Swallowed and Bubbles too, listened to them recently.

Glycerine was the only song of their's I really knew by them before hand, and like, it's good, but it's not really my thing overall.
