Reviews would help. But the brand itself doesnt matter if the tv works...

The brand doesn't matter to me in anything.

Depends on price really assuming both TV's have the same specs. If price, looks and everything is the same then sure I'd go with Sony as I at least know that brand. Chances are the less known brand is significantly cheaper though.

I did my research when I got my tv last year, ended up going with a Samsung 4k mu8500 65" curved TV. The Sony equivalent was also in my interest but was more $. I look for lag times mostly as I'm using it mostly for gaming.

Some TLC? Brand was the good budget tv but I ended up going with Samsung.

Some cheap tvs are not as good with HDR and screen brightness.

As long as it's not a bargain based brand name.

Price/reviews are a factor and I'd like to think in most cases brand doesn't matter. But for some things like a TV where I plan to keep it for 10-15 years then yeah I'd prefer Sammy or another well known manufacturer. Can't argue with results. I have a GXTV that has to be 20+ by now and 2 monitor/TV's going on 10-ish with no problems.

Off brand TVs tend to be third world quality. You get what you pay for, as they say.
