So i spoiled myself for DMC3s ending (i think), where vergil and dante kill that demon together and then dante kills vergil and the writing/voice acting etc just doesnt feel polished

Hard to say. Usually if you hate the originals, you will like DMC, and vice versa. I hated DMC, but love the originals (except 2).

Not really. In fact definitely not, I can be stronger with my language there. You see everything coming from so far away and at no point does the game throw any curve balls at you. Also, Virgil as written in the games final chapter must be damaged in the head. That he didn't expect how everyone would react makes absolutely no sense.

And there's the design. Whatever Dante is here, hasn't been edgy and cool with the kids for fifteen years. Why are we plundering early 00's pop culture for our hip new reinterpreted protagonist? I saw him and immediately felt like my parents struggling not to eye roll at the kids begging to go to the closest warp tour. Lord, give me strength.

The only thing that interests me about this is the possibility that Capcom knew more about Bill O'Reilly's creep factor than the rest of us, like a year before he got fired for sexually harassing co-workers.

I do like the universe and some of the characters but no, I wouldn't consider any of them good stories overall. 3 was probably the best one.

Edit: Just to clarify, are you talking about the franchise as a whole or DmC, the reboot? Because if it's the latter the answer is FUCK no

It's really schlocky but also insanely lovable

1 is cheesy but fun
2 is boring
3 is actually pretty decent
4 is aight
dMc is eh

Don't play for the story.
Start with 1, skip 2, play 3, play 4, play dMc if you want.
