They got like FOUR gacha games going on now, but no time or money to make a decent Tactics game

Their teams that handle FF for instance need to all be sat down in a large conference room. Have a bout 2 hours of gameplay shown to them of FF 1-9. And then told "See. That's all. That's the battle system. Stop trying to reinvent the wheel every single game when it comes to gameplay. Focus on characters, world and story."

I mean for the love of god. That studio is in such a state of disarray and rife with crippling mismanagement. That isn't news but 33 million dollar loss attributed to DLC alone for XV of which three quarters of which never see the light of day. That is baffling on a number of levels. How? How is 33 million even allocated to DLC to begin with? Why was DLC needed to explain major elements of the base game? Let's just start there. Because they made a shit game with a shit story that's why. The incompetence, the mismanagement, the ambition with a complete lack of talent to make good on any of it.

The Octopath team needs to do XVI. Keep the visuals of Octopath, bring back the good old FF battle system and just create a damn good story, world and characters.

Here's my biggest problem with square enix: they keep pumping out action (borderline fighting )games and want to ruin ff7 reboot when they have actually good fun action rpgs like brave fencer musashi or threads of fate .
Seems like a bad idea and business to alienate their only real fan base

They should make a ff like dq 11 go back to basics with a ton of nostalgia.

I feel like they kinda sold out Final Fantasy fans. Instead of taking stupid half assed Action RPGs ideas and coming out with The bouncer 2 they put them in FF games while dragon quest gets to keep its awesome formula intact.

IMO FF was doomed as soon square and Enix merged

And at the very least I'm sure XIV is keeping them afloat for now.

the majority of ff games have ranged from okay to great, with the few exceptions being lightning returns, the first tactics and some offshoot games like dirge of cerberus and revenant wings, which are all hot garbage. you can't take an antiquated battle system from the snes-ps1 era and wrap a modern game around it, unless you're significantly reducing production value and making a game like i am setsuna, lost sphere or octopath, which are designed to be throwbacks and to tickle your nostalgia bone

for better or for worse, ff is the marquee jrpg franchise and instead of recycling the same shit into a new game to sate a fanbase that's unable to change, i'd want them to keep trying new things, even if they fail sometimes

fuck the movies and everything outside of games tho
