Also during the announcement event, Square Enix announced that Final Fantasy XV's Comrades multiplayer will now be released as a standalone game, meaning you don't need the base game to play it. There will be a further 10 new bosses, as well as more costumes and weapons in the standalone game.

FFXV: Multiplayer Comrades, as it's called, will launch on December 13. Those who already bought the Comrades expansion will get the new, standalone edition for free.

I don't follow FFXV at all, but this seems really shitty if anyone was actually anticipating a multiplayer mode.

I'm pretty sure the new version also has multiplayer. It's just its own game now, as opposed to being a separate thing on FFXV's main menu.

The plot effectively goes nowhere until the last 4 hours of story in the game. It's incredibly disjointed, haphazard, poorly written, poorly designed, insultingly insipid, it's the worst triple A game of this Gen.

I feel like square doesn't know what to do with final fantasy, they seem to be trying to capture the wrpg crowd, but fail to see the JRPG Renaissance happening all around them. Hell, square even made dq11 and ocopath traveler and Nier automata.

Like, why can't they give final fantasy that treatment?

Episode Ignis which came out last year had an alt ending.

One of the DLC planned for next year was supposedly going to be an almost alt ending or timeline of some sort, but we got no real info on it until today (which was that it's cancelled).

Since PS2 days, Square have been trying all sorts of different things with FF.

It worked out majorly well for FFX... and they royally fucked up every time since.

Yeah, expanding on the final chapter and making the last area explorable wasn't ever going to make the ending actually good.

If anything, all the new content that's come out since release has made the ending even worse.

The story was a mess ever since they announced Kingsglaive and the anime series.

Someone bought me FFXV for Christmas in 2016 and I legit never played it for more than like 5 minutes.

I think I played some BS tutorial mode, and was just like "eh, I'll get back to this later."

and I never did. I ended up selling it to some dude for 10 bucks because I just couldn't be bothered.

I can't speak for Bravely Default, but Octopath is a decent game at best. It's nowhere near FFIX quality.

Gameplay is literally a joke where you have to put in a conscious effort to fail

Open world is empty and dead

Sidequests are generic MMO fetch quests with NPCs who have no effort put into them

You can complete the entire game using nothing but warp strike. I know because I did. I made it a fucking point to see how much of the game I could do with just one move.

This is the best news I have heard from SE in a long time. Maybe they actually got someone semi-competent in charge now. Anyone with a brain would have just cut their losses with 15 and put all production towards something else. You dont keep people working in that envirioment that caused the game to delay over a DECADE. You get them out of their shake it up and hope not to repeat.

They had literally been engratiating themselves in their delay everything culture and high fiving each other for a job well done.

Hopefully this is a sign of change to come

The open world of FFXV is fine, and the combat is just as fun as most FF games.

It's the story, pacing, and abandoning the things it does right that make FFXV a mess overall.
