What's to stop some guy pulling her out of a cage/tower while Link did all the work and is fighting Ganon and then claiming he did it.

And then what would happen if he did that and then they had sex like is often implied with Damsel In Distress tropes? As due to false pretenses she believes he rescued her.

I mean I know a lot of CE are loners so they might not appreciate this but there have been dozens if not hundreds of times in my life where I have done something great and as a result other people who either did nothing or worse, flat out failed, tried to steal the credit until I was forced to speak up and set them straight.



I feel like Link wouldn't know how to handle that.
