they start of the 1st episode stating the main character of the show is dead.

He was fired and Netflix decides to just end his story arc like that with one comment and they move on. This show is a hot mess I couldn't watch the rest of the episode after that. I really loved this show and its ridiculous this is how they resolved this. What do you all think?

Sounds like a pretty piss-poor way to handle it, but given the circumstances, there isn't really much else they could've done. I don't think there's any way to make something like that end in a satisfactory manner.

From the preview I saw, it looked like the wife is the president. How do they handle that? I tuned out after season two so I'm a bit out of the loop. Was there a time jump to go along with it?

I don't know, they had already shot the season with Spacey in it. They could have just released the season how they planned to and donated a bunch of money to some anti-abuse charity.

Are you sure youre not talking about the movie where he was replaced with Max Von Sydow? They had to reshoot almost the entire movie.

They just want to move on completely, entirely, and quickly. I respect that. Don't watch the show if you still care about the Kevin Spacey character at all. It's not fair to everyone else who works on the show... I thought that when the Roseanne thing happened as well.

Yea exactly I wish they had.

Netflix is weak to of caved into this #metoo movement. Should of just wired the season or rewrite to end and let the public know they no longer are working with him.

This really killed the show.

Kevin Spacey is a piece of shit for what he did, but he was primarily the biggest reason most people tuned into House of Cards sadly. Don't get me wrong, Robin Wright is a great actress and plays Claire really well, but without the main star there it will lose a lot of viewers. The same thing that is happening to the Roseanne show basically.

I tried to watch it but yeah it was just too ....weird. The show needed to end 2 seasons ago. It should've ended the moment Frank became President and knocked on the desk. After that, it turned to crap.

I forget the reasons why they decide to do it, but the eventually conspire to make her the vice-president. When various shadiness about how Frank became president starts to become more prominent, he goes to a retreat for a bunch of ludicrously rich people and comes to the revelation that they hold nearly as much power as the president. So he resigns the office with the plan to have his wife pardon him; she'll control the political side, he'll transition into private industry.

tbh the whole show kinda went off the rails in the prior season with frank conspiring against himself

this season, his death is revealed to be because doug stamper was sick of him destroying his own legacy. claire stabs him to death with a letter opener in the end and it's suggested probably starts a nuclear war or something

basically this season is not worth anyone's time

except maybe the rise of that actor that plays conway

he's pretty great and won himself a starring role in the first season of altered carbon, which is a much better show

Wow I'm definitely not watching this.

I actually enjoyed every season of this show but I officially checked out after this 1st episode. Damn shame this was my favorite Netflix show

Meh i liked the new season, better than last one, not as good as the first three though.

This season was all about legacy which is a bit different than the other seasons.

Wrong. They were in the process of filming and I believe had completed 2-3 episodes
