Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger, the retired pilot best known for his "Miracle on the Hudson" landing that saved 155 passengers in 2009 is urging Americans to vote DEMOCRAT on Tuesday despite the fact that he is a longtime REPUBLICAN!!

He has no regrets on writing an op-ed blasting the Republican Party who said "How could i not. I felt an intense obligation to act, not just to watch, to put my voice out there, to vote, to try to make a difference"

He said his vote was not "partisan" but one that was in line with "American values".

Sully slammed Trump even though he didn't address him by name who said "I don't think he's either capable or willing to change. Instead of talking to the current occupant of that office, i am talking to the american people. I'm saying, you are the ultimate check and balance. it is up to us. As i said in my piece, we cannot wait for someone to rescue us, we must do it ourselves. Everyone, everywhere, must vote in massive numbers"

He wrote in the Washington Post and said "This si not the america i know and love"

He said that the current leadership was selfish, unfit to rule, immoral and harmful to american interests and that all leaderes must take responsibility and have a moral compass grounded in competence, integrity and concern for greater good. Sully continued and said the current leadership are cowardly, complicit enabler and acted against the interests of the united states, its allies and democracy and encouraging extremists at home and abroad.

Sully has been a registered Republican his whole life but said he could never vote for Trump and that this Election day is a crucial opportunity to demonstrate the best in everyone to voting for leaders committed to the values that will unite them and protect them.

He's been known as a national hero for safely ditching a US Airways plane and into the Hudson river off of Manhattan when a flock of geese disabled the engines. It was made into a hit movie by Republican Clint Eastwood and starred Tom Hanks..

A lot of former Republicans have abandoned this current Republican party and either urged people to vote Democrat or become Democrat themselves.

Hopefully people listen, and aren't fully under the sway of the Cult of Trump.

Nobody is right when it comes to politics.

Disagree. There are "political opinions" that are plainly wrong. Some examples:

- Separating asylum-seeking children from their parents is fine
- "Deficits don't matter" (Dick Cheney)
- The country was better off with slavery
- Supply-side economics
