Have you ever considered that different people might have different opinions on the word and in order to not be a dick, you should just not say it in front of people who might be offended by it? Like you have the right to say it, but there will be consequences. And conservatives love talking about personal responsibility and the free market, so if the free market judges you as an asshole for saying it you should take some of that personal responsibility. I have had groups of white and black friends that use the word freely among each other, but that's a small group of people that have established boundaries. If you use the word in public expect to be judged accordingly.
