Started doing basic pushups and situps every other day with runtastic apps. I don't like the idea of buying a weight set or going to the gym, but this is helping me avoid moobs and reduce skinny fat.

Do you have any preferred apps that are great for working out?

You dont need much to not look like shit.

But youre gonna be really disappointed not doing squats or lunges with any weight to speak of. Literally a waste of time and effort lol.

Yeah, bodyweight can go a long way. Eventually you can do harder stuff too like pull-ups and more full-body workouts.

Make sure to do cardio, that ultimately will keep that feeling good feeling going more than anything

not really. yes theyre more effective with weight, but it still burns fat, improves flexibility, and build strength. using your body weight to exercise is more effective than people give credit.

Yeah adding a little muscle on my lower body might go a long way. I don't think it will end up giving me crazy muscles but holding will probably help tone some.

I've been counting calories for years. I've basically made it a habit to monitor my intake and it's worked out wonderfully. If I could keep to a basic workout regimen consistently I think that would be the next big step. It only takes 30 days to really build a habit forever.

Nah. If you want to burn fat, clean up your diet and run or swim. If you want flexibility, idk try stretching? Build strength lol squatting without weight.

Unless its something like pistol squats/one legged (even then although to a lesser extent) youre pissing in the wind and wasting your time.

Body weight exercises youll stall out on pretty quick and youll be disappointed with the results. Like said if your goal is to not look like shit push ups and pull ups will carry you for a while but if you actually want to look good/be scientifically considered jacked bodyweight exercises wont get you there.

I say that as someone whos actually jacked and looks better than pretty much everyone on this board.

This is.

Otherwise I'd be going to a gym and buying weight sets, but I have no interest in doing either.

Well jolly. Doesnt change the fact that squats and lunges without weights like that parrot suggested is a waste of your time and push ups and pull ups on top of counting macros as youve been doing will get you to where you want to be.

Yeah, there are tons of body weight work outs that I've found online. I plan to use them as I will be traveling more next year so I'm making a habit out of the basics now. I will not always have access to weights or machines.

I still don't see how using my body weight with holding squats or wall sits will be unhelpful. It seems like almost every resource on body weight routines includes them.

I'm an amateur gymnast. You don't need barbells or a gym at all. For legs I do weighted pistol squats. This guy literally just did 10 sets of dips and pull ups three times a week and after 5 years he's huge.

Bodyweight training IS weight training

Lol I call you a parrot because you repeat shit do squats without actually knowing wtf youre talking about.

Im not saying they do nothing, Im saying theyre a waste of time and hed be better doing more push ups and pull ups instead. Learn to read.

And I know quite a bit, I have a degree in biomedical sciences.

Nice try backpedaling your way out of an argument after realizing you know fuck all and look like shit in comparison. Youre right, he can add weights if he wanted to later.

toned just means muscular with low bodyfat. You can get huge with bodyweight too.

this guy only squats with barbells, otherwise he does solely gymnastic rings with bodyweight

never understood why people are so scared to just go to the gym. Doing exercises at home is a waste of time. And eventually you'll get lazy and procrastinate when life gets in the way. Half the battle of working out is getting your ass off the couch and actually walking into the gym.

If you ever want to add weights all you really need is one dumbbell with an adjustable weight

You don't need a full set to do basic workouts, it's not too expensive, and is fairly versatile.

Like, I've been slowly building my equipment. Right now I have one dumbbell and two medicine balls lol. Altogether it takes up like a square foot in my room..

Why don't you read the topic before posting? I plan to be traveling for an extended period of time and will not have access to gyms most of the time, so I'd rather not build a workout around access to a gym.

And before you ask, yes you REALLY should do just as much pulling as pushing, because pulling gives you a V shape and good posture, and pushing alone gives you a hunchback and nerd neck
