Majority of white people were against him being found innocent. Why was that?

I figured it was due to the overwhelming amount of evidence against him. And the car chase, and OJ holding a gun to his own head, etc. But why would this be exclusive to white people? Everyone of every color should have come to the same conclusion.

What!?
Man I did NOT know the details of this case!
I think I may have been too young at the time.

OJs an interesting case because he was pretty clearly guilty. However, black people have historically been unfairly treated by the law and falsely accused, including several notable celebrity cases. This one was a nice win in many peoples eyes.

Two people were murdered. Not really a win

I know, it took believing that he was being set up to see it as a win. Which wasnt that unreasonable a position to have given the history I described.

What was funny about that ESPN documentary is that when he was found not guilty, he tried to go back to white people and they were like "go fuck yourself, murderer." So not even two weeks after that, he's seen dancing in a traditional Dashiki on some public access gospel program trying to endear himself again to black folks. That mask didn't hold for too long.

The OJ case happened a couple years after the Rodney King beating and Latasha Harlins murder. His legal team wanted to exploit that. One of the detectives involved in the case was caught on tape using racial slurs against black people and plead the fifth when asked if he planted evidence.

Black people had no reason to trust the justice system.

can people please stop saying found innoncent. its not guilty, theres a massive difference

What's the difference?

one says theres enough evidence to prove guilt. one says there isnt (which doesnt mean innocent, just means cant be proven guilty)

So should we change it to "not guilty until proven guilty" then?

Not guilty was the verdict in that case. He's still under the presumption of innocence according to case law.

A jury can't find you innocent.

They can only say there isn't even evidence to find you guilty.

Yeah, the O.J. case is an excellent example of how damaging poor police conduct is: the rampant distrust created by the LAPD's conduct towards black people in general helped enable a guilty man to get away with murder.

He was thought to be not guilty? The way the legal system works, it's pretty much impossible for a Black Man to get off without being innocent.

"Only 39 per cent of black people now think O.J. Simpson was not guilty of murder in 1995, "compared to the 69 percent who thought so at the time"

You posted a link that literally answers the "spirit" of your question. They thought he was innocent.
