There is pretty much no "pull all the stops and life goes on as usual". That boat sailed decades ago. There are basically two options. 1) human extinction and 2) we pull all the stops and humanity survives, in a dystopian future after billions are dead.

Last time we saw increased temperature was the Medieval Warming Period followed by the Little Ice Age of the 16-1700s, that saw the Thames River freeze over. This coincided with a maunder minimum (a reduced amount of solar flares for an extended period of time). Today we have increased temperature and scientists are stating we are approaching the next maunder minimum mid 2020s-2030 and it is believed that there will be a decrease in temperature yet again.

Yes, we can mitigate damage. That isnt going to save us now. It wont even save a large portion of people. There are a lot of actions we can take that will literally save a large portion of people. One is to strengthen infrastructures everywhere so that places are ready for refugees. Because there will be tons of refugees. Sure, it's very unlikely we would be able to reverse or break the warming such that we don't hit 2 degrees. But there are a lot of lifestyle changes we could still conceivably do to (1) break the warming so that it doesn't get even worse and (2) be ready for the types of disasters that will only become more frequent. And it's certainly not enough to replace all cars with electric cars. Building that many electric cars would be bad for the environment. What's needed is bigger, systematic changes. Rethinking how much we actually need to travel. Rethinking how societies should look like so we don't all need individual cars, etc. I really don't think it's gonna happen, but the kind of change we need is that fundamental. --- Everything has an end, except for the sausage.
