I dont watch football but I have a fantasy team. It seems like most positions are predominantly black except for QBs and kickers. Is there some sort of racism where the team owners want to have a white guy as the face of the team?

Theres not a great number of great black QBs period. Most of the ones you see in college dominate in run and gun offenses because of their athleticism, rather than their ability to read and break down coverage. There are a few exceptions, like Deshaun Watson and Jameis Winston, who either have played in pro style systems or actually learned to read defenses, but most just get moved to receiver or get phased out pretty quickly.

There's a stereotype against black quarterbacks for having a more "steal the show" personality that makes them less of a team player, and coaches fall into that line of thinking.

Like I said, black QBs are usually excelling in run and gun systems that seldom require more than 1-2 reads. If those reads are not there they usually can take off running . Take Robert Griffin III for example: excelled in Art Briless Veer Shoot offense because of his running ability. Won the Heisman, drafted in round 1, and all that jazz, but because he never learned to read a defense he had to rely on his running, which ultimately got him hurt.

Im saying they dont have to. The spread offenses that litter high school and college football are often single read pass concepts where they check their one key then run if its not there. Its easier to teach and master versus a 3-4 read pro offense. So when these guys get to the league and are plugged in Day 1, they end up fizzling out because they cant read the defenses and NFL players are just as athletic as they are.

He kind of has a point. Even Johnny Manziel was completely overwhelmed because he relied on his athleticism. When he got to the league he'd never studied a playbook. Also he's a moron.

Unless you're a transcendent athlete like Vick who was gifted as a runner and thrower, you're going to have a rough time relying on athleticism.

Why aren't there more Vietnamese American quarterbacks?

God damn racism. We need to fix this with quotas right now.

Theres multiple different offenses in college, where theres 100+ teams in the top subdivision alone and a lot of them are spread, quick read plays/options, where youre literally looking at maybe 2 people on the defense to see what you need to do with the ball.

NFL offenses (pro-style offenses) actually require the QB to read the entire defense and audible out if the read isnt there.

Its not so much that black QBs cant read a defense, as Russell Wilson and Cam Newton both are black QBs that have made it to Super Bowls in previous years. Its that black QBs in college dont run a lot of pro-style offenses and havent been taught the skills and techniques to read various defensive looks.

High school offenses are even more chaotic than college offenses which is why they generally move to WR/RB or dont go into the NFL after college.

Jameis Winston is one of the few black quarterbacks in the league and I honestly do not think he has what it takes to win. I would not give him the massive money that he is going to demand when a new deal is needed

If you want to talk about the disproportionate number of white quarterbacks, you also have to talk about why white people are really underrepresented in the NFL and NBA in general.

I'm no football expert but I was a big Steve McNair fan and what these guys saying about running the ball is kinda true, he was known for that. Still one of my favorite QBs though
