The obvious influence of that movie in future films as well as video games was staggering. Also one of the best shoot outs Ive ever seen. I know Im super late with this one its been on my list forever.

As far as games go every heist in every GTA (GTAV having the heaviest influence obviously), Kane and Lynch, and the Payday games. In real life the North Hollywood Shootout. Films its probably inspired and influenced is harder to say but probably countless.

One of my favorite films. I also really like the ending song in it too (produced by Moby). Though the movie is a great action film, it really explores people's relationships with each other. The only flaw I see in the movie is I don't think Pacino's acting was that great in the movie. Still love that movie though.

I actually saw it for the first time a few months ago. It had been on my list for a while, I guess the audio for the shootout was one of the more notable achievements. I really wish I saw it in theaters.

People discover old films all the time, younger people dont know about a lot of good films and older people might not have had time to see some of the great films.

There is so much out there you cant be that person saying how come youve never seen _____.

Can't speak for TC, but The Dark Knight was hugely influenced by this movie, right down to a bit part for William Fichtner.

The bank shootout is the best gunfight on screen period. Every time I walk into a bank the music from the scene always pops in my head.

I'll always appreciate how the guns are actually loud and have oomph to them like how they really are. It makes you feel like you're actually in the middle of that gun fight. Instead of overdubbing the real life gun sounds with sound effects, Mann stuck with the real sounds because they sound waaay better. I know it's not that important to the overall movie, but it does help immerse you in it.

Not to mention the tactics of moving under fire are executed professionally and Val Kilmers now famous perfect speed reload. Really made the scene feel real.

I have to say that the only thing that really drags the movie down is Al Pacino, who actually manages to set the bar higher here than his usual brand of overracting. 'GIMMEAYAYGA! AH? GIMMEAYAYGA!!' In too many instances he brings this borderline-campy hard-boiled cop stereotype into a movie that's otherwise deservedly praised for bringing a sense of raw realism into the genre. That's just my take, though.

I can agree its not Pacino's best but I read that origionally Vincent was suppose to be a coke head but Mann cut out that plot point and left in Pacino's erratic scenes.

The point of it is to show he's desperate. He lives for the job. It's his life. And he's really fuckin good at it. He is the hard boiled cop. But in Neil McCauley, he finds a criminal he can't catch. And it eats him. Neil's got him beat every step of the way.

The "GREAT ASS!" Scene is an example of his frustration. The guy he literally found as the way in to Neils crew is too busy bemoaning his situation to be of any use. Hanna loses it in sheer frustration and just hollers at the guy till he cooperates.

It's Neil's competency contrasted by his downfall that gets me. I've never liked the "there's time" scene, because it's incredibly out of character. He's got an out, he's got this woman(who he broke his own rules for already), and on the literal cusp of universal victory he decides "oh yeah, let's do this thing I said to not do!"

ESPECIALLY given the (unknown to Neil) information we have about Waingro's extracurricular activities.
Trejo's cause of death would have set off alarm bells in Hanna's brain. There was actually no need to go back, waingro was going down anyway
