I have 4 semesters left, I really screwed up freshman and sophomore year, I want a 2.5, is this possible if I get straight A's?

Assuming youre taking the same number of hours for junior and senior years as you had the first two, you could raise you GPA to 2.83 with straight As

If the next two years are equally weighted compared to the first two, you just take your current gpa (1.67), add a straight A gpa for the next two years (4.0) and divide the sum by two

You're suggesting he power through and end up probably a hundred thousand or more in debt with a GPA that is completely useless to applications... on the hope that after 2 years of completely bombing he's going to have some sort of epiphany and pull the 2 years of nearly perfect grades necessary to get his GPA back up to mediocre? What does he have to gain in this scenario? Pride and a sense of accomplishment?

TC, college isn't for everyone and sometimes you don't get a redo when you screw around in life. Shame on whoever failed to teach you these basic life lessons, but it's not like all hope is lost.

You should seriously consider looking into transferring into a technical school and/or apprenticing into a trade you think you'd enjoy. Electricians, for example, are in high demand, can make up to 60k right out of school, and usually have good union benefits and pensions. Plus you can work your way up into either a foreman role or your own business if you work hard.

TC you have a lot of balls posting this on here on this toxic board. You don't need an amazing GPA to get a job, and I think you do have options to continue your schooling. Consult your academic advisor

But whatever's causing you to get low grades definitely needs to be addressed first. Don't listen to people in here who somehow think it's impossible to continue your schooling after getting on academic probation or getting disqualified

How have you not been kicked out yet? Why are you even bothering? At this point you'd probably be better off learning a trade, and considering your performance you're not getting a good position out of college anyways.

Not only that, but the first two years of college are the easy ones. If you can't manage at least a 3.0 doing general education there's no fuckin way you are gonna ace every single higher level class you take.

I didn't know that you could outright get your grade replaced if you took the class over, I thought it was just an average of the two, no?

Anyway, might as well retake classes then. I'm honestly surprised that your program or college is still letting you stay unless it's like a community college.

I don't think this is how college GPA is calculated.

Youd be mistaken in this scenario. It can work out to be a simple calculation in his case since hes roughly halfway through. When I say equally weighted, I mean that he takes the same number of credit hours for the last two years as he did the first two years.

For example, say he took 65 hours freshman and sophomore year and averaged the 1.67 GPA overall. Now if he takes 65 hours for junior and senior years and gets straight As, the math really would be as simple as adding the 4.0 and 1.67 and dividing by two for a 2.83 overall GPA.
