ff8 is usually shit on the most by ff7 fanboys upset that it wasnt ff7 version 2, big shocker.

its still during the peak of the series, from ff6 to ff10, sold very well and square does treat it like the black sheep, somewhat fair as well given how divisive it is. kinda funny how much it bothers people still though.

You people need to pay attention to the story more. Theres subtle clues that Headmaster Cid arranged everything on purpose, making the coincidence not so ridiculous. It just seems out of place because Cid never really follows up on it afterwards, just Edea after you fight her.

But yeah, theres a reason the three brand new SeeDs excluding the one guy who wasnt at the orphanage were tasked with an unobtainable mission, along with Cid personally requesting Galbadian Garden that Irvine be the sharpshooter. Because if there wasnt any other reason, hed be a fucking lunatic.

None of those "subtle hints" even remotely point at there being a deeper connection between your playable characters beyond the fact that they are all in the same organization.

And the whole "we can't remember because of GF" shit is hamfisted in to excuse this out of nowhere "twist," even though near as I can tell there was no relevant information presented to us beforehand as to the drawbacks of utilizing them.

It's awful, and it's always been awful. But I forgive it because Laguna makes the ass story worth suffering.
