Trump is making it sound like she used it to market herself, but I got a feeling it's one of those things people just like throwing around in conversation. Like I heard a bunch of white kids growing up bragging about Native American heritage. Like hey fun fact...my great grandpa was a Cherokee!

There is this claim out there that she used her supposed ancestry to get into a good collage. As far as I understand is is a hoax that has long since been refuted. Also I think she mentioned it in a book once.

It came from some interview she did, where she talked about how her father's side of the family was unaccepting of his marriage to her mother, who was of Native American descent. In that interview, Warren mentioned the possibility that it could just be a family legend, but later stated her claim a bit more assertedly, simply saying that she had Native American "heritage."

Some of her employers, colleges, etc, used this to make themselves look good. Warren didn't use affirmative action to game the admissions system; that's an unsubstantiated smear.

She told that story about her parents all. The. Time. You can find mashups of tons of interviews where she says that exact story over and over lol

Because at every opportunity Elizabeth Warren goes out of her way to say that she has Native American heritage. She keeps having these political rallies where shell keep mentioning it over and over nonstop.

Donald Trump wants to talk about the country and the specifics of his policies but Warren will show up and interrupt like Kanye at the MTV awards. I just want everyone to know, I Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, have Native American ancestry. *drops mic*

Shes obsessed and wont stop talking about her ancestry.

it indicates that she applied as a white woman (also corroborated by the folks at penn that hired her).

similar story for harvard. applied as white so as to not take advantage from her personally assumed native american status, then updated status to native american because, in her words, "I was hoping I'd get invited to a lunch or something."

the story is "lonely white professional woman wants to make friends"

Honestly, I think some people are just really into culture.I see people take those DNA tests all the time, and get super excited about them. Maybe even visit.

I know some Vietnamese people who are always saying they have a French ancestor somewhere. It's harmless.

considering she applied to harvard as a white woman and was hired to a tenured position as a white woman and didn't change her identity in their HR directory to native american until after she was hired, which was around a year before the article you're posting

Her claim was she's Native American. This claim is backed up by her listing herself as Native American on college forms, said college naming her their first 'tenured professor of color,' and contributing to a Native American cookbook.

Her DNA test proves she's no more Native American than almost any other White person in America.

Yes, but I don't see anything she's said that isn't accurate. The cookbook is the closest thing and that comes from the family tradition that has been part of her claim the whole time.

Also for the one that asked.

Heritage-something transmitted by or acquired from a predecessor

She had DNA transmitted to her from a native American ancestor.
