Then, internally enjoy as their lives fall apart and they have nobody to blame but themselves. The ultimate schadenfreude.

Oh. You were just making a dumb joke. Fucking figures.

Also, in general don't be an asshole to people.

That's a good way to fail at everything in life.

Didn't stop you.

And you wonder why people feel inclined to treat you like shit.

Self defeating behavior reinforces itself

Positive things happen to positive people. The people that always seem to be angry and bitter at the world approach everything with a negative mindset. It's a self fulfilling prophecy.

can you imagine those who come from generations of this shit? the parents have emotional baggage and never learned how to fully appreciate their blessings enough to love others properly, so pass that indignation to their children. children who grow up feeling like their lives would have been better growing up if only [insert group of citizens] would disappear. the delusions of grandeur passed on from one generation to the next add extra stress when these delusional dreams don't coincide with reality. causes the most unhinged of those demographics to become extremist.

I was raised with the idea of "treat others the way you want to be treated". But it's one big lie.

You get treated like shit no matter how you act.

So what fucking difference does it make? What's the point?

Is that (bolded part) really true for you? Damn, sorry if it is. I guess Ive been lucky because a smile and a yes, Sir or yes, Maam and always a thank you usually works well for me. Sometimes people are mean anyway, but its been pretty rare. I hope things work out better in your situation.

on a serious note... one shouldn't conflate "politeness" with "treating people the way you want to be treated."

being polite should be part of basic social etiquette. it's why it's taught to us while we're young, even if the ones teaching are hypocrites, lmao. it basically just means don't start no shit by being a dick. if somebody starts some shit with you first, then you deal with that depending on what the situation demands. hopefully you've got integrity embedded into your character.

"the treat people the way you want to be treated" thing is nice when looking at it in a black and white point of view. but with a deeper look at people, you see we actually require different things.

you may be an extravert and have an introvert friend. that introvert may not want you throwing them a surprise party at a night club, despite the extravert's best intentions and idea about what makes an awesome party.

we need to try to understand each other in order to know how to treat each other. if we can get passed all of that intentional misconstruing of other people's words, and start being more genuine in our interactions with each other, we can probably get somewhere with basic social etiquette like "politeness" as a starting point.

meh
