There's this crazy woman in the neighborhood who's known for causing trouble and trying to steal from stores. Yesterday she went nuts, threw the receipt printer at my boss, and ran into the lobby and attacked a little girl who was sitting down eating her food.

It really made me sick to my stomach hearing about it. The worst part is that I'm not even normally off on Mondays; it was sheer coincidence that I wasn't there. Instead there were only a few small female employees. I feel helpless and frustrated that I couldn't do anything about it.

Sounds like it was a good day to be off from work.

Good for me, yeah. But I was concerned and wanted to be there to help. Somebody is attacking people I know where I spend most of my days, and hurting children; hell yes I want to be there.

And in a completely unrelated event, I just found out that another one of my managers just got shot. I don't have much details, but there was an altercation between two people (not at work), my she tried to break them up, one guy pulled out a gun, she jumped she jumped in front of the other person, and the bullet went through her and hit the other guy.

Yeah you would have probably been fired for preventing eminent harm to your associates or clients, so it's a good thing you were off.

Why would she jump in front of a bullet to protect somebody she didn't know?

I don't know if she knew them or not. But there are people like that.
