Not near as bad as I thought it was when I first watched it.
If you haven't seen it in awhile, definitely give it a second shot.

I liked it the first time. It had it's flaws, of course, but it was a solid entry into the Star Wars series. The hate it got was obviously ridiculous. It happens every single time a new one comes out. They freak out because it's not exactly how they envisioned it and nothing will stop their temper tantrums. They hated TFA because it was too similar to the old ones, then they hated TLJ because it was too different from the old ones. They wanted new characters to be unique, but then complained when they got character development. They wanted old characters to show up, but where mad when they were aged and changed by the 30 years in between. They are unpleasable.

On the flip side, it'll be hilarious when the next set of movies comes out a decade or two from now, and all of them do a complete 180 and say things like, "Yeah, well the last movies actually were pretty good, people just were too hard on them, but these new ones are unforgivable!".

It doesn't help that 90% of the hate came from Youtube click-bait channels that just camp out to complain about anything that is popular just to harvest clicks for monetization.

This is probably the most typical response when I point this out. Ignore what is actually said and try to attack me personally. So I'm glad you agree with everything I said other than my informal grammar.

I liked it. I do have complaints and I have no idea how they're going to make the next film interesting seeing as nearly every question or mystery had been answered/shit on, but I enjoyed the film. I prefer it to TFA. That tentacle alien chase on the freighter is the worst part of any star wars film, period. Blurry boring CGI Disney action nonsense.
