During the late 90's-Early 2000's, was Homophobia more prevalent and acceptable on Gamefaqs?

Or was gamefaqs still strict to anyone who would make jokes or derogatory comments on people who were gay?

So one of CJayC's earliest implemented violations of the Terms of Service was "Sexual Preference Insult". Basically stated that calling anyone or anything "gay" as a derogatory was an insta-ban.

After a couple of years it softened to "instant warning".

I mean, it was in society at large for sure, theres no question. Up until 2003 a good number of states still had sodomy laws.

calling other users gay was bannable offense.
