CNN is shining a light on three of the most consequential races in 2018 including the Texas bid for U.S. Senate through debates or town halls in the coming weeks.

But Texans wont get to see incumbent Republican U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz and Democratic challenger U.S. Rep. Beto ORourke of El Paso face off in this series.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R) declined CNNs invitation to participate in the town hall, a CNN statement noted.

So ORourke will be featured in a live, one-hour town hall with CNN Chief Political Correspondent Dana Bash in South Texas on Oct. 18.

The Cruz campaign did not immediately respond Tuesday afternoon to a request on why the senator will not participate.

The solo town hall will air at 9 p.m. central time Oct. 18 and be televised from the McAllen Performing Arts Center.

The other two races that will be featured in CNN debates: Democrat Sen. Bill Nelson and Gov. Rick Scott in a U.S. Senate debate. That debate will air at 9 p.m. Oct. 16. And Republican Rep. Ron DeSantis and Democrat Mayor Andrew Gillum in a 7 p.m. Oct. 21 Florida gubernatorial debate.

Cruz knows he could fucking murder someone in broad daylight, be in prison for the vote, and still get in.

When will Ted Cruz learn that giving Beto free air time is a bad thing

I'm glad CNN is sticking it to Ted Cruz, because everyone should stick it to that smug pile of pond scum and mosquito larvae.

Cruz? I highly doubt it in Texas. I will be very surprised if that happens

cruz is a skilled debater

but the town hall format isnt really a debate

it is an invitation to provide human responses to real people

i dont really blame cruz for not wanting to do that. giving beto a full hour is probably a smarter move; however much beto is good at making himself look good, cruz is far better still at making himself look evil

Even though Cruz is hated even within his own party people in Texas would rather vote for him then a democrat. It's why he has stayed in office for as long as he has.
